In 2019 we released the Fuzzboy v1 in the black box with the spaceman on the front.

After listening to player feedback we’ve got more of the good stuff on tap in a perfectly sized, rugged, fuzzy package that covers all manner of fuzz from vintage-flavoured tweedy fuzz to super-scooped sludge to gated velcro sputters and back again.

V3 includes:

- better power filtering for quieter operation

- internal trimpot for set and forget LED brightness

- hand-matched transistors

- a starve control that's optimised for all pickups

- 3 MIDS settings: FLAT mids, mid-HUMP, and SCOOP settings

- 3 MASS settings for 3 distinct tonal palettes of fuzz from vintage overdrive to modern huge walls of sound.

Based on a certain classic green pedal with a rather conspicuous mid hump except updated, revamped, reworked, reenergised and redesigned for today’s demanding musicians who live on the road - meaning more versatility, more tonal options, true bypass wiring, useful and intuitive controls, a 3 way COMP switch for a selection of different feels, top mounted jacks, solid metal rugged enclosure and parts chosen to last tour after tour after tour. All backed up by our RTB warranty.

This is one of my favourite circuit designs and the pedal which I think represents where Monarch Pedals is at these days, cramming all we’ve learned over years of playing, touring, listening to customer feedback - hence the Emissary name.

Controls:

DRIVE - Controls the amount of gain is present, from a clean boost to a medium distortion.

VOLUME - controls the overall output volume. How loud do you want it?

TONE - Boosts the mids and upper mids. The more you turn, the more you get. This is great for cutting through the mix or adding some vintage rock n roll sound to your tone.

COMP - This is a 3 way switch with UP/MIDDLE/DOWN soft clipping options in the feedback loop of the primary gain stage, each one delivering a unique sound. UP = symmetrical silicon diodes just like a stock TS, MIDDLE = no clipping at all for a much bigger, fuller, uncompressed sound (very loud!), DOWN = Symmetrical ‘Marshall’ style clipping for some fun upper-mid growl and quicker attack.

AIR- Adds presence and clarity to your tone. Want to stand out in the mix? Turn this up. Want to blend in and warm things up a little? Dial it back.

CUT- You know how a Tubescreamer or SD1 is a great boost because it both cuts flubby bass and also boosts the mids? With our CUT control you can select how much bass is cut, or isn’t. It’ll go from very full and almost fuzzy to a thinner more aggressive and cutting tone. This is amazingly useful when boosting a dirty amp!

FYI:

MODE switch toggles between modern silicon and vintage germanium, using rare NOS D18 diodes from 1968 (a close cousin to the Klon’s original D9E).

At its core, the unique circuit remains – a vintage-voiced drive that straddles classic overdrive and brash ‘60s fuzz. It cleans up beautifully with your volume knob and reacts to picking dynamics like nothing else out there. Go from clean to dirty by literally just strumming harder.

With a 3 band active tonestack, unique DRIVE control that manipulates 2 gain circuits at once, and the all-new and unique FEEL control that takes you from mild to wild the SUNDOG is ready for whatever setlist you need to get through, night after night, tour after tour. Just about any sound you can conjure up is in there somewhere - from ultra-scooped metal destruction, to 70s rock edge of breakup to singing liquid leads like John Petrucci, or what about hollow stratty goodness? It’s in there somewhere, that’s why we call the SUNDOG the setlist in a box.

The FEEL control is all new to the Sundog and allows you to subtly change the texture of your sound. At lowest settings the pedal is quieter with just a smidge of fraying distorion around the edges of your playing with a warm and vintage rounded character on single note lines. The more you increase the louder, the more powerful, heavier, and fuller the sound. There’s nothing else like this out there.

If your effects pedal is noisy, glitchy, or just not sounding like it used to, we offer repairs to get it back in top form. Whether it's a dodgy footswitch, tone loss, weird behaviour, or no sound at all, we can take a look and in most cases get it back to you in A+ condition.

We’ve fixed pedals from all the major brands – Boss, EHX, Dunlop, Ibanez, Maxon and more – as long as they’re built with through-hole components (see below for a handy visual reference).
